Virtual Race FAQ

Garmin Virtual Marathon FAQ

Do I have to do my virtual race on April 18?
Absolutely not. The Garmin Marathon virtual race option is your race, do it on your time. We know many of you have been training for this date for months, so if April 18 works for you, go for it. Don’t feel as though you have to, though, because this is your race on your time.

Is there anything going on at Garmin on April 18?
No. The race is totally virtual to be completed on your own, at your own pace, on your favorite route and in keeping with your local and/or state guidelines for social distancing.

Where do I run my virtual race?
Anywhere you like. We don’t set the course for your virtual race. You set the course. You’ve probably got a training route already set. Use that one or find a new one. Just be sure to keep with your local and/or state guidelines for social distancing during this time.

How do I get my race T-shirt, bib and medal?
The race packet – which includes the T-shirt, bib and medal – will be mailed to the address you used to sign up beginning May 15.

Is there a deadline to enter the Garmin Virtual Marathon?
The deadline to register for the Garmin Virtual Marathon is Friday, May 29. You can register all the way up to the completion date.

Is there a deadline to complete my virtual race?
It’s your race. Do it on your time.

How do I let you know I’ve completed my race?
There is no official form or submission needed after completion of your race. The virtual race is done on the honor system, and we trust that you will complete your race on your own time. At the same time, we’d sure love to see all of our runners share their run on our social media platforms. To do so, take a quick picture after you’ve run your race and post it on the Facebook event and/or Twitter using the #OzRun and #GarminVirtual hashtags. You’re also more than welcome to e-mail a photo to us at marathon@olathe.org.

Can I do my race on a treadmill?
Of course. We know that some don’t have the ability to get out or don’t feel comfortable going outside their home complete their race. You are more than welcome to complete your race however you feel safe and comfortable with.
