Charity

Our Charity Partner program continues to grow as our event does. Since 2003, over $50,000 has been raised.  We hope you’ll join us in charity fundraising this year and find the initiative to run for a cause, a friend, or a loved-one.

Ultimately it’s up to each Charity to determine the fundraising amounts and incentives.

Garmin Marathon Charity Beneficiary

A portion of the proceeds from the Garmin Marathon go toward the Mayor’s Children’s Fund, which benefits Olathe’s children and families in need.

The Olathe Mayor’s Children’s Fund is making a positive difference in the lives of Olathe children and families, giving them hope for a brighter tomorrow! For many years, the Fund has supported local charities meeting the most critical needs in our community, including food, health care, clothing, shoes, and school supplies. The Fund is administered by a Board appointed by Mayor Michael Copeland and comprised of community leaders and friends dedicated to helping our children.

Thanks to outstanding community partners, the Fund has no overhead expenses, allowing 100 percent of donations to go directly to our beneficiaries. And, it’s important to know that 100 percent of the Fund proceeds stay right here in Olathe.

All of our charities are required to have a 501(c)(3) designation, and they are carefully selected following a grant application process each year. The annual campaign period is October 1 – December 31, but donations are always welcome!

Checks should be made payable to the Mayor’s Children’s Fund and sent to the City of Olathe, Office of the Mayor, P.O. Box 768, Olathe, KS 66051- 0768. Donors can also conveniently make contributions on-line by visiting our website. Donations are tax deductible, and all donors receive an acknowledgement of their contribution.

Our caring and generous donors have helped us raise well over $500,000 for the Mayor’s Children’s Fund since 2007! Especially heartwarming is our annual “Pennies for Shoes” campaign in Olathe Public Schools. In 2013, Olathe students helped raise over $18,000 for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, demonstrating the intergenerational spirit of philanthropy growing in our community.

Thank you for your support – we love to say that Christmas joy flows year-round in Olathe because of the Mayor’s Children’s Fund and the help and hope it gives to hurting families and children in need!
